The building structure is the main project view in ETS Inside, where the KNX installers can create a representation of the real project structure.
The structure may contain the following:
- Buildings
- Functions (at the corresponding operation location in the Building - structure)
The flexible building structures help in organising and managing devices in ETS projects as well as in the installation workflow.
After the creation of the building structure, which represents the real physical building structure, you may place the devices into the individual elements of the building structure. The following table gives an overview of the available building structure elements together with their usage.
Icon | Name | May contain | Comment |
---|---|---|---|
![]() |
Buildings | Building Parts, Rooms, Floors, Corridors, Stairways, Function | Root level element |

Building Parts | Building Parts, Rooms, Floors, Corridors, Stairways, Function | 1st level container element |
![]() |
Floors | Rooms, Corridors, Function | 2nd level container element |
![]() |
Corridors | Cabinets, Devices, Function | 2nd level container element |
![]() |
Stairways | Cabinets, Devices, Function | 2nd level container element |

Rooms | Cabinets, Devices, Function | 2nd level container element |
![]() |

So, from the above table, it is obvious that cabinets and devices can only be placed under
- Corridors
- Stairways
- Rooms
- Cabinets (only for the devices NOT for the cabinets)
