ETS Inside project & communication types
In order to support all communication media (TP1, PL, IP & RF) within one ETS Inside project, the medium type of the backbone line needs to be IP. This automatically means that only TP1 can be used as medium type for any area main line. This also fits to the requirement to offer the medium types PL and RF additionally for the same project, because PL and RF can only be added in this context by means of a TP1/PL media coupler and TP1/RF media coupler respectively.
Conclusion
Each ETS Inside project has a KNX IP backbone line, one TP1 Area, one PL line and one RF line.
Details
- the line address of any backbone line is always 0.0
- the line address of the main line of the TP1 area is set to 12.0
- the line address of the RF line is set to 12.1
- the line address of the PL line is set to 12.2
TP1 Repeaters
Since the TP1 line is offered as area main line, it is not possible to add TP1 repeaters to an ETS inside project, see here regarding hop count.
TP1-64 vs. TP1-256 devices
See here for more details.
Conclusion
If TP1-256 devices are used, then there is no need for TP1 repeaters in order to add 256 TP1 devices (including the IP/TP1, TP1/RF and TP1/PL couplers) to an ETS Inside project.
