This article covers the following topics:
1. What is a restore point?
Project restore points serve the purpose of opening a project in one its of earlier stages.
- If a project contains invalid data, after e.g. a power failure, then the project is still in the project overview, but it will be grayed out, which means that it can no longer be opened for editing, the solution in such a case is to use the restore point in order to make the project available again for editing.
- Project restore point concerns always a local copy of the project, i.e. it cannot be shared with others users.
- The difference between a restore point and a backup is that the backup can be exported and opened on any ETS Inside server, whereas the restore point can neither be exported nor be used on another ETS Inside server.
2. How to manage a restore point?
1. Define a restore point
In order to define a restore point for your project you have to:
- Login and open the project either as Admin or as End Customer
- Tap the 'Modify' button
to enter the 'Edit mode' (it becomes green once activated).
If there is no restore point already define, then:
- Tap the 'No restore point defined' button.
- Tap the 'Define restore point' button on the lowest right corner of the screen.
The creation of the restore point starts and is completed few seconds later, depending on the project's size.
As soon as the restore point is created, it can be found in the project dashboard for both Admin and End Customer.
2. Restore a restore point
If you need to restore the restore point, then simply tap the 'Restore point' from the project dashboard. This will give you a safety warning asking you to confirm that you indeed want to overwrite the existing configuration of your project with the one from the restore point.
Be careful. Once you restore the project from the restore point, it is not possible to reverse the changes afterwards.
By tapping the 'Restore' button, the project configuration is restored to the state of the restore point.
3. Delete / Overwrite a restore point
In order to delete or overwrite an existing restore point, you have to:
- Login and open the project either as Admin or as End Customer
- Tap the 'Modify' button
to enter the 'Edit mode' (it becomes green once activated).
- Tap the 'Restore point'
By doing so, there are 2 buttons shown in the lowest right corner of the screen:
Delete restore point: This will completely delete the restore point.
Overwrite restore point: This will overwrite the existing restore point configuration, with the actual project's configuration.
