By definition, a segment is a collection of equipment electrically connected together.
Or for KNX, a segment is a collection of TP devices electrically connected together.
For every TP1 segment a PSU and a TP choke is required.
The maximum capacity (= number of devices that can be connected) of a TP segment is historically different, i.e. when the installation was realized:
- Before the end of 2018
- maximum 64 devices could be connected together to a segment
- As of 2019
- maximum 256 devices can be connected together
