The article covers the following aspects:
In ETS Inside the only way to add devices into a project is by using the Online Catalog, which is shown when the button 'Add device' is shown.
This button is only visible in the location where a device can be physically installed in the Building Structure. So, if you want to add a device in a corridor, simply tap the 'Add device' button
By tapping the button, the Online Catalog window pops-up, where all the available KNX devices are shown, and grouped by manufacturer.
On the left side (1) you can scroll among all the available KNX manufacturers, and on the right side (2) you can scroll among all the available KNX products of the manufacturer that has been selected on the left side. You can also browse through all products from all manufacturers if you select the option on top 'All manufacturers'. If you want to search for a specific product, just type the name, or the order number of the product in the search field (3).
The online catalog displays the following information for all products (4):
- KNX Manufacturer Name
- Catalog Section 1
- Catalog Section 2
- Order Number
- Application name & version
You can see that by typing only '286' on the search field, you get the results for the device 'Push button UP 286', which is the desired one for this example.
To finally add the device, tap on the desired device to select it. You will see that the selected device is highlighted with a frame around it as well as with a check mark on the upper right corner.

Once the desired device is selected, tap the 'Add' button.
As soon as you tap the 'Add' button, the device is inserted in the location where it has been requested, for this example it is the 'Corridor'.
For projects that have never been exchanged with ETS Professional and have only one Line, all devices are automatically added to the Line 12, whereas for projects that have been exchanged with ETS Professional and have more than one Line, the Topology window is shown once the 'Add' button is tapped. Here the user shall select the Line, to which the devices will be added.
In order to delete a device, from any location, you have first to enable the 'Edit mode' by tapping the 'Modify' button (1) on the main tool bar. Once the 'Edit mode' is enabled, you will see the 'Action bar' (2), where all the relevant actions are displayed.
In order to perform one of the displayed actions, you have to select the device by tapping it. Once selected, the device is highlighted and a check mark is also displayed on the upper right corner of the device (3). Then, the available actions are highlighted (4).
To finally delete the device, tap on the 'Delete' button and the device will be deleted.
