Alternative licensing model
Hi,
The cost of ETS professional is extremely high. Would be great to have an alternative business model for ETS licenses which is subscription based with a monthly fee in addition to an existing life-time license.
This would allow more actors to enter the ecosystem as well as allow to generate more revenue for KNX association.

I think part of the reason is that the license fee is a "barrier to entry" so that only people committed to KNX are able to get the software. ETS Pro is not cheap but for a professional software tool it is not unreasonably priced. Particularly if one buys early in the product's lifecycle the full price works out at only around 100-150 Euro per year. Also, with a small amount of planning, one can often buy at a good discount from full price. And if used in a business typically the cost of tools can be written off or at least depreciated over time.That said, for individuals and businesses that do not carry out many KNX projects per year it might be a more agreeable option to have a pay monthly choice. But how much? Adobe Acrobat Pro is 40 Euro per month - that looks really expensive compared to 1000 Euro for 8+ years.

This is why the ETS Home licence exists, as it is affordable for private users.
In the past, only the ETS Pro licence was available.
