KNX for beginners - heating systems
Dear Community,
I am trying to figure out if KNX system would be suitable for my home project.
Few words about myself and my needs regarding the home automation.
I am seasoned software developer with some (but little) experience regarding communication protocols and talking to hardware. In scope of KNX I am absolute beginner, newbie is a honest description - I've finished the basic eCampus training and that's it.
What I need right now is to improve the control of the temperature in the house using temperature sensors, window sensors, valves and contactor. I've figured out sensors and actuators and they certainly are in my budget, however I still need to figure out how to logically connect everything to implement what I need.
Is there any way to use, let's say, Raspberry Pi and communicate through USB or TCP/IP, reading data from sensors and control valves and gas boiler? Or do I need to have some specialized device, which is flexible enough to be programmed in a way I would like?
That would be the starting point, as for the future I would like to have an integrated solution to manage lights, ventilation and window shutters as well.
Thank you in advance for any hints. If there is any documentation which would be helpful for me, the links will be appreciated as well.
Best regards
Artur
