Connection closed by remote device

Hello all,

End user here. I have an issue trying to program RDF800KN Siemens thermostats via MDT IP Interface SCN-IP000.03 with (or without) Secure enabled.

Trying to download - even partial download - the application results to error "Connection closed by remote device" after some seconds of programming activity

 

The device can be programmed without issues using my installer's USB Interface (2 different models actually), but it always fails with the IP Interface.

I can also program any other device in my home installation using the IP Interface, absolutely no errors there.

Any help or direction to a solution would be highly appreciated.

    I have suffered from this issue for months, needing to open my cabinet and connect the breadboard KNX/IP router directly to the sub-lines where the in/out-house devices are connected, instead of going via the KNX/IP router in the cabinet, the cabinet mainline and the line couplers to the sub-lines.

    These problems have been solved by update to ETS v6.3.0; most likely this "known issue" was the root cause, see release notes, even if in my case there is only Ethernet/TP and TP/TP involved:

    "Download through 2 Media Couplers to RF Segment does not work"

    The update also solved the many APDU errors (with "Use low bus communication rate" unchecked) which blocked download, even if this is not mentioned in the release notes. But "Connection closed by remote device x.y.z" and "... Insufficient APDU Length (restricted to 15 by communication settings, required: 20)" occur when using the Jung/Gira service apps (I have opened a support ticket for this).

    Hi Petr,

    Thank you very much for sharing this solution. I’ve tried almost everything and spent many hours on it. As soon as I disconnected my Home Assistant connection, it uploaded the new configuration without any issues. Funny that this isn’t a problem with all components.

    If you are running Home Assistant, then try and shut it down while doing the upload from ETS.

    No Home Assistant, only plain KNX TP network and ETS on WIN laptop connected via Ethernet (WLAN works OK for monitoring but fails 90% when downloading). And as I said, with no other HW/SW change download now succeeds in 95% with ETS v6.3.0 vs. 0 to 10% with ETS v6.0.6.

    I think the Service App failure is a different topic and I am waiting for a response by the support team (urgent because I need a FW update for my many push-button sensor modules Jung 529x1 ST to get the value transmitter and especially the short/long keypress to work correctly).
