Takeover exicisting system => upload
Hi Community, as a newby i'm slowly learning te steps in the world of KNX.
I finished my basic course and want to step up a little bit.
I recently came across a new client who asked me if I would be interested in taking over an excisting expanded house system because the installer is going on retreat.
I receved te programmation of the system from the installer and want to make a connection localy.
Still there I'm not so sure about myself. If I make connection with the system and start making corrections in the modules, I have to download it to some modules.
What if I received an incomplete programmation, after downloading, will excisting modules/groupadresses.individual adresses be erased?
I was wondering, is there in any way a possibility to connect with the system and first of all make a full upload of the system, modules, groupadresses and individual adresses?
I would be more sure of myself, i don't want to explain to the client that after 1 setting, half of the building is not working anymore.
Thank for any helpfull hints or trics.

Hi,
The best approach is to use the reconstruction tool to identify any differences.
If your project version is the same, you can upload the configuration to all devices without any concerns.

Hi Antonio, thanks for the quick response and your solution to my problem.
I assume you’ve already used the tool, and I hope it’s worth the money.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but when I purchase this tool, I can first read the data from any installation before adjusting the settings, provided the versions match. Does this also work if there’s no installation file available?
I assume there are installations where the customer no longer has the software and the installer can no longer be reached. And can the tool also be used if the project is password-protected? I assume this tool won’t work for Secure installations.
My apologies if I’m asking too much; thank you in advance for your reply.0 -
Hi,
The tool works with almost every installation. However, there are some older plugins that can cause problems when reading out the system.
Additionally, you need to have the product database installed locally on your computer, or you can use the "Online Database" tool from IT GmbH, which is what we use.
It is important to note that you will get the logical links and connections, but not the plain-text names of the group addresses. These will instead be named "Created by Reconstruction."
For Secure devices, the only option is to perform a master reset directly on the devices and then configure the system again from scratch.

Hi Antonio,
I installed the reconstrucion tool and ran an excisting programmation, all worked well except the zennioZ35 was not recognised. after I updates the database, all worked well.
I'm currious to see how it works at the takeover.
I'll post my findings later on.
Thanks
