Each training rig used for the KNX Basic course shall contain the equipment specified below.
The same equipment requirements apply to the:
- KNX Basic course
- Condensed Practical Basic course
- KNX Refresher course
The general requirements regarding the number, ownership, and use of training rigs are described under General training rig requirements.
Equipment required on each training rig
Each training rig shall contain the following KNX product types:
- Switch actuator
- Dimming actuator
- Shutter actuator

Sensor(s) supporting the following functions:
- switching;
- relative dimming; and
- drive control (shutter)
- Line coupler
- Power supply
An IP router may additionally be installed but is optional.
Multifunction actuators
The required switch, dimming, and shutter actuators may be replaced by one or more multifunction actuators, provided that all required functions are available.
Examples include:
- switch/shutter actuator;
- dimming/switch actuator; or
- another multifunction actuator providing the required functions.
KNX Secure equipment
Each training rig shall additionally contain:
- at least one KNX Secure sensor (TP or RF); and
- at least one KNX Secure actuator (TP or RF).
KNX RF equipment
The following KNX RF equipment shall be available:
- at least one KNX RF S-Mode sensor; and
- at least one KNX TP/RF media coupler.
Unlike the other equipment listed above, this equipment only needs to be installed on one training rig, preferably the KNX tutor's training rig.
The KNX RF equipment is only required for training centres located in countries where the use of the 868 MHz frequency is permitted.
