An ETS licensee may experience that his ETS data becomes corrupted, which prevents him from opening and further editing the KNX project. For such cases, KNX Association offers the service of repairing the corrupted data. The following cases are distinguished:
- Case 1 - Project(s) in knxproj/knxprojarchive format from the latest ETS generation
- Case 2 - Project(s) in database(s) or in knxproj/knxprojarchive format from older ETS generation
- Case 3 - Project(s) from a computer that has crashed
- Case 4 – Project(s) in knxproj/knxprojarchive format that ETS refuses to import
Case 1 - Project(s) in knxproj/knxprojarchive format from the latest ETS generation
Covered ETS generations: Only ETS6
What is covered in detail: ETS Project (.knxproj) and ETS Archive files (.knxprojarchive) from the latest ETS generation that cannot be imported/opened/edited/exported in the latest released ETS version.
As this is the currently active and maintained toolchain, KNX Association guarantees that all projects that have been edited with an ETS version (with a valid license) from the latest generation shall be compatible and editable throughout the latest ETS generation lifecycle.
What the customer can expect after the repair: ETS Project file (.knxproj) that can be imported/opened/edited/exported using the latest released ETS version.
Cost: Free of charge
Case 2 - Project(s) in database(s) or in knxproj/knxprojarchive format from older ETS generation
Covered ETS generations: ETS1, ETS2, ETS3, ETS4 and ETS5
What is covered in detail: ETS Project- (.knxproj, .pr1 ~ .pr5), ETS database- (.db) and ETS database backup files (.bak) from all previous ETS generations cannot be opened/imported/edited/exported in the latest released ETS version.
As the old software generations have been withdrawn and support for these versions has been halted, KNX Association needs to re-establish the necessary infrastructure and tools to allow its specialist engineers to access and post-process the supplied old-format data.
What the customer can expect after the repair: ETS Project file (.knxproj) that can be imported/opened/edited/exported using the latest released ETS version.

This may be due to the fact that the original installer did not use a licensed version of ETS when creating/exporting the project. With some effort from the side of KNX, it may be possible to repair such projects, so that they can be read by a correctly licensed version of ETS.
What the customer can expect after the repair: An ETS Project file (.knxproj) that can be imported/opened/edited/exported using the latest released ETS version, provided it is a correctly licensed copy.
Cost: €200,- / exported project
