linking a device to itself

Hello, 
is connecting different group objects of the same device to a group address ok.
by that I mean, if I have an actuator with a staircase timer on channel one and I want to have channel one send its inverse status and turn on channel two on the same device whenever it is off, is it possible? or am I risking losing the telegram because of the way the system works?
