Bought house which had KNX installed, but main controller removed.
hi - I have a property which has had KNX installed in the past - the problem is that I want to take control of it but a lot of equipment has been removed. There are LCD panels for the lights etc and a lot of dimmer switches. I think there may be other components too. What is the best way to find out what components I have, what addresses available etc. I have purchased a GIRA KNX IP router, have found a KNX 2 wire bus cable, and an ethernet cable that gets an IP address from the router.
Some things are working, other things don't and I need to get inside the system.
I have access to ETS6 and a laptop, but no idea what to do from here. I have had KNX installed in the past but this was 10 years ago so I know the fundamentals but no idea how to build a KNX network from scratch. I have already asked for the ETS file but this won't be available as nobody can get hold of the previous owner.

The Reconstruction tool can be used to read out devices in the installation and then create a new ETS project or update an existing project. You may also compare the data from the installation against an ETS project.
This allows to work on projects where the ETS database has been lost or is out of date. This will also work for installations which were created with a previous version of ETS.0 -
The problem I am having is with the installation of the router - Every address I choose causes the device to stop responding when it restarts - How do I find a free address when the device used to browse addresses needs an empty one?
The reconstruction app will be used when I can successfully browse the bus0
