Get serial number from ABB devices before connecting
Hi, I'm configuring my KNX home system using ABB components.
I've set them up correctly connecting them to the system and downloading their serial from ETS6, and then applying the necessary configuration.
When I download the individual address for the first time, pressing the programming button is mandatory. Does it mean that my ABB device does not support the KNX Serial Number function?
I noticed that in ETS6 it is also possible to manually enter the serial number of the device so I can register the device without having to physically connect it to the system to find it.
In all ABB products I've bought I don't see the serial number printed on the packaging or on the device itself.
Thinking about the first installation of a new component in a KNX system, it would be very convenient to be able to connect the device to the system only once, already knowing its serial number, in order to to be able to immediately download the configuration without having to press the physical button for programming .
Can you tell me where I can physically read the serial number on ABB devices? Is it printed on the packaging or on the device itself?
Do you have experience on this?
Thanks for your help

I don't have a lot of experience with ABB products, at least in newer times. My feeling is they are a bit behind when it comes to convenience, compared to some other manufacturers. If you have a product in front of you (with original packaging), you might check if there's a small sheet of paper with the serial number on it. It could be a sticker on the product itself.
The serial number is 12 characters long, and only the number 0-9 and letters A-F should be present.
I Googled some ABB products, and on one of them I saw this sticker that has 12 characters, but with so many leading zeros, I doubt it's a serial number. See photo
This is what Zennio does with their products. In addition, with each product, there's a small sheet of paper with the serial number on it, which can be placed on building plans or other.
