Group Monitor to fit 1080p resolution

Hi

Most ETS users likely work on monitors with a 1920 x 1080 resolution.
By default, the Group Monitor includes the following columns: Number, Time, Service, Flags, Prio, Source Address, Source Name, Destination Address, Destination Name, Building Function, Building Part, Hop Count, Type, DPT, and Info.

The last column 'Info', which displays the value of the Group Address on the bus, is the most important.
To optimize the Group Monitor for a 1080p display, I suggest collapsing the following columns: Service, Flags, Prio, Building Function, Building Part, and Hop Count. Additionally, adjust the widths of the key columns as follows:

  • Number: 40
  • Time: 150
  • Source Address: 120
  • Source Name: 150
  • Destination Address: 120
  • Destination Name: 150
  • Type: 150
  • DPT: 150
  • Info: 250

This layout ensures that a new user with a fresh ETS setup can immediately view all critical telegram details. If more information is required, the user can select the telegram or add the necessary columns.

    I suggest a similar solution. All I need is for ETS to be able to remember my column selection in each view. If I delete some columns which I have to do every single time then it retains the last column selection and order from that point on.
    I work with a 5K screen but its still a pain as I like to have 3 ETS tabs open at the same time for speed, so still need to rationalise the columns every time.

    But I also want to make it as user friendly as possible for those who just start with KNX.

    Hi Michael,

    the ETS v6.3.1 release notes promise "Set Last Modified Column Configuration as Default for newly opened Detail View of that type", which sounds an improvement but if you close v6.3.0 the recommended way you will also have your column sequence saved.

    Still I completely agree to the request to have the default column sorting be more user friendly by shifting important data to the left and (for most users) unimportant to the right with according default column width. Maybe a survey would help to gather more opinions w.r.t. the optimum default setting... This is my layout:
