Loading and writing files within scripts

We are currently using a plugin or a DCA to allow reading or writing a product-related file to or from an ETS-external location. With introduction of the scripting functionality, the requirement to use a plugin and DCA has significantly been reduced. One task, we cannot yet do in scripts, is to have read/write acces to a local file through a suitable OS dialog window.
We think that providing this feature would significantly improve the scripting feature of the ETS and the UX in the parameter pages.

Hi Dustin, as this is a rather niche request, could you please provide me with some more detail as to what it is that you are trying to achieve with the scripting functionality?

Hi Michael,
this request is almost 3 years old. The project, the request was intended for, is dead and I do not recall what was tried to achieve back then.
If anybody has not yet voted for this, probably the best thing is to just close it.
