Insert (Overwrite) Mode Is Reset After Opening Dialogs
Dear Sirs,
I would like to report a usability issue regarding text editing in latest ETS 6.4.
When I enable Insert/Overwrite mode using the Insert (Ins) key, ETS resets this state every time a dialog, popup, or configuration window is opened and closed.
Expected behavior:
- The Insert/Overwrite state should remain unchanged until the user explicitly presses the Insert key again.
- ETS should preserve the keyboard editing mode across dialogs and view changes.
Current behavior:
- I enable Overwrite mode with the Insert key.
- I open a popup/dialog and close it.
- The editing mode is reset and I have to press Insert again.
This is particularly inconvenient when editing large numbers of objects and addresses, as it interrupts keyboard-based workflows and requires repeated manual reactivation of Overwrite mode.
Could you please confirm whether this is intended behavior or a bug? If it is intended, I would like to request an option to preserve the Insert/Overwrite state globally within ETS.
Thank you, BR
