The KNX NextGen course is a non-commercial course whereby apprentices get to know the Basics of KNX at an educational institute (e.g., secondary school, college, or university). The theoretical and practical part of the NextGen course as well as the exams are organized Face to Face (F2F). Mobile/fixed KNX training rigs or KNX Virtual is used to convey the practical part of the course. One mobile or fixed KNX training set is required for the KNX teacher. The following topics shall be conveyed during the organization of a KNX NextGen course:

Requirements with regard to the KNX NextGen course
- The duration of the total course, including exams, is at least 30 hours.
- The apprentice must attend the course at least 75 % of the total course duration.
- All topics of the KNX training documentation shall be dealt with within the above-mentioned period of time.
- The theoretical as well as practical part shall be conveyed by a KNX Teacher.
- The theoretical and practical exams shall always be organized F2F in the presence of a KNX Teacher.
- The proportion of practical classes shall be at least 50 % of the entire course duration.
- The apprentice must pass the theoretical as well as the practical exam with minimum 50 % of the marks. The exam regulations can be found under Exam regulations for the NextGen course.
