Introduction
For a device developer to test and evaluate an unregistered device, a dedicated Device Test license shall be created. With this Device Test license, it is possible to import and test unregistered devices in ETS6.
For dongle-based test license :
The Device test license is created and bound to a Dongle ID and expires after 30 days. However, you can re-generate it as many times as needed for testing. If a tester is removed from the organization, their license will expire automatically after the expiry date.
For cloud-based test license :
The Device test license is created and bound to a MyKNX username, remaining active for 30 days and automatically reactivating every 30 days. If a tester is removed from the organization, their license will expire automatically after the expiry date. Users also have the option to manually delete the Tester license via the MyKNX Account under "Device Testers."
There is no need to download any license from the MyKNX account, as the cloud license is automatically prolonged with the user account.
To use the Device Tester license in ETS, follow the instructions in the article on standard ETS Licensing for ETS6.
How to create an Device Tester license
- Go to company "Account"
- Click on "Device Testers"
- You can see the window to invite the Tester. Click on "Invite Tester".
4. Select Username/Email and click on the "Invite" button.
5. The Tester will get the invitation through email and MyKNX notification.
For existing Email/Username: The tester should go to MyKNX, click on the notification, and accept the invitation.
Alternatively, go to the email and accept the invitation by clicking the link (if you already have a MyKNX account).
If you don't have a MyKNX account, go to the email and create an account by clicking the link.
After the tester successfully completes the registration process, they will receive an email containing instructions to activate their account. This email will provide the necessary steps to activate the account and gain access to the Device Tester platform.
Once the tester has successfully activated their account, they will receive another email containing an invitation to accept the Device Tester license. By accepting this invitation, the tester will officially become a licensed Device Tester and gain access to all the features and functionalities of the device Tester platform.
Upon accepting the invitation, the Tester will receive a confirmation email. Once the invitation is accepted, the Developers can view the invited Tester's details under Device Testers.
