KNX devices can be configured via:
- S-Mode (ETS)
- E-Mode
- PB-Mode (Push button Mode)
- Ctrl-Mode (Controller Mode)
- LTE-Mode (Logical Tag Extended Mode)
These configuration modes use different models, KNX services and data to configure KNX devices. In Ctrl-Mode and PB-Mode, the functionality of channels are standardized, meaning that the parameterization is much more limited than in S-Mode. E-Mode compatible devices are already pre-programmed, have a limited functionality with a default set of parameters and are intended for small to medium size installations.
As the Manufacturer tool and ETS do not natively support E-Mode, each E-Mode device must have a minimal S-Mode interface in order to ensure some minimal configuration of these devices with ETS.
How to submit an E-Mode product for registration?
- Follow the steps as described in the Registration phase.
- In the Application program data sheet, select the correct E-Mode flavor.
- For the E-Mode part, the manufacturer has to declare on a company headed paper, which channels have been used according to the different Volumes (e.g. 7/1/11, 7/10/11, 7/20/11, etc.) thereby also listing the supported datapoint types and the corresponding connection codes.
- As the current MyKNX product registration tool does not support uploading this declaration, the manufacturer has to send this declaration via separate email to the Certification department of KNX Association thereby mentioning the MyKNX registration ID.
Note:
- When the manufacturer adds a parameter to a standardized channel, then by definition this channel becomes a private channel, for which the manufacturer has to request approval.
