There are two different ways to transfer parameters from one device to another.
Also Group Objects flags can (optionally) be transferred via the same feature when the option 'Also transfer group object flags' is checked.
Complete Transfer
Prerequisites
- The devices need to have the same Application Program (and obviously need to be of the same manufacturer)
- Two or more devices are selected.
How to
- Select devices that fulfill the prerequisites.
- Right click and click the option 'Transfer parameters & flags'.
- Select the master (source) device.
- Click 'OK'.
Results
- The entire set of parameters from the source device is copied completely to all target devices.
- All existing parameter settings in every target device will be overwritten.
Group Addresses assigned to Group Objects may be deleted in this process.
Selective Transfer
Transfer parameters from one parameter page to another
Prerequisites
- Two or more parameter pages are selected.
- The parameter names on each page should be identical.
How to
- Select the parameter pages that fulfill the prerequisites (multiple selection of parameter pages is done by pressing the CTRL key*).
- Change a parameter.
Results
- The parameter change is applied to all selected parameter pages.
Within multiple devices - Transfer parameters from one device to multiple
Prerequisites
- The devices shall have the same Application Program (and obviously need to be of the same manufacturer).
- Two or more devices are selected.
How to
- Select devices and/or the parameter pages (multiple selection of parameter pages is done by pressing the CTRL key*) that fulfill the prerequisites.
- Change a parameter.
Results
- When a parameter is changed in the dialog of the active device (the active device can be seen in the title bar via the Individual Address), then this parameter change (and only this) is applied to all selected devices respectively.
* In this case, the intersection of the individual (identical) parameter names on each page is shown. This intersection could also be blank if all parameter names on each parameter page are different. This also applies (unfortunately) in cases in which, for example, only the channel identifier has been included in a parameter name on every page (e.g. Rocker switch function A, Rocker switch function B).
It is fundamentally possible that, even though the Application Programs are the same, different parameters are enabled, e.g. an Application Program with two functions, Switching and Dimming, whereby Switching has yet another parameter, Switch-off delay, which is not needed for dimming. If, for this reason, the parameter cannot be changed in one of the selected devices, for example, because it is not even present (Switch-off delay), a dialog will open. Here, it is possible to skip this device.
How does ETS identify identical parameters?
The following logic is used for the multiple selection of channels (pages) so that they can be deemed to be 'identical'
- The translated parameter text of both parameters must match
- The parameter type of both parameters must match
- The suffix text of both parameters must match
A special case is constituted by the number of parameters; parameter A exists three times on channel A, parameter A exists twice on channel B.
- In a multiple selection of both channels, parameter A will be shown twice. The third parameter A is omitted because it does not occur three times in channel B.
