To become a KNX NextGen educational institute, an educational institute shall meet a number of requirements regarding Teacher qualifications, training equipment, software, and classroom facilities.
KNX Teacher
KNX NextGen courses shall be taught by a KNX Teacher who has successfully completed the KNX Basic course and passed the corresponding exam (=Partner).
A KNX Tutor from a KNX certified training centre who holds the KNX Tutor certificate may also teach a KNX NextGen course.
Only a KNX Teacher or KNX Tutor meeting these requirements shall teach the theoretical and practical parts of the KNX NextGen course.
KNX training equipment
A KNX NextGen educational institute shall own at least one fixed or mobile KNX training rig for demonstration purposes by the KNX Teacher.
The training rig shall be the property of the educational institute and may not be rented from another organization.
The following product types shall be available on the training rig:
- one KNX actuator;
- one KNX sensor; and
- one KNX power supply
Students may use KNX Virtual during the practical part of the course. In this case, KNX Virtual shall be downloaded and installed on their computers.

Classroom and media equipment
A projector, smart board, or comparable presentation system shall be available in the training room.
It is recommended that separate areas or rooms are provided for the theoretical and practical parts of the training.
