Projects can be protected with passwords, or they must be if secure devices are used in the project. When one forgets the password, there is no possibility to recover a project. To prevent this from happening, we give you the opportunity to store the passwords in an encrypted and safe way in your MyKNX account.
How does the Project Password Manager work?
Prerequisites
- Active internet connection.
- Active MyKNX account with 2FA authentication enabled (Visit https://id.knx.org).
- Project Password Manager License available in the active MyKNX account.
- ETS main license can be either Cloud or Dongle.
- Logged in in ETS6 with the MyKNX account (see 1.)
- ETS 6.3.0 or later.
How to activate the functionality
- Login in ETS6 with the MyKNX account having the Project Password Manager license.
- Activate the Project Password Manager license in ETS6 (like all apps)
- By activating the license, the “Store project access rights in MyKNX” option (under Data Storage > Project Access) is enabled by default.
- Set a project password on a non-password protected project or open a password protected project: ETS asks to enter the password and once entered ETS communicates in an encrypted form the key derived from the password to MyKNX.
How to deactivate the functionality
- Login in ETS6 with the MyKNX account having the Project Password Manager license.
- Uncheck the box “Store project access rights in MyKNX” option (under Data Storage > Project Access). You can select to clear any encrypted communicated password to MyKNX.
- (optionally) Deactivate the Project Password Manager license in ETS6 (like all apps)
