Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security to your MyKNX account. Even if your password is compromised, 2FA prevents unauthorized access by requiring a second form of verification.
By default, 2FA is disabled on new MyKNX accounts. While enabling it is strongly recommended, it is mandatory for accounts using ETS6 cloud licensing.
To learn more about how Two-Factor Authentication works here
How to enable it
-
In your account, navigate to Account > Profile > Settings
Click on the 'Set Up 2FA' button.
-
Next, link your Authenticator App by scanning the QR code displayed on screen, or enter the code manually. You can use any Authenticator App of your choice. Here are some popular options:
- After saving the code in your Authenticator App, click Continue
- Enter the code generated by your Authenticator App for your MyKNX account, then click Activate.
- Once activated successfully, you will see the confirmation message "Authenticator Activated".
- After activation, you will be provided with 10 recovery codes. Store these in a safe place — you will need them if you ever lose access to your authentication device. From now on, you will be prompted to enter a code from your Authenticator App each time you sign in to your MyKNX account.
How to disable it
-
In your account, navigate to Account > Profile > Settings
2. Click on the 'Disable 2FA' button.
3. Enter the code generated by your Authenticator App for your MyKNX account, then click 'Disable'.
4. After that step and provided that your code was correct, the Two-Factor Authentication is disabled for your MyKNX account.
Use of the Recovery Codes
If you no longer have access to your authentication device (e.g. your mobile phone), you can still disable Two-Factor Authentication using one of the recovery codes provided during activation. Click Use a recovery code, enter the code on the screen that appears, then click Disable.
After that step and provided that your code was correct, the Two-Factor Authentication is disabled for your MyKNX account.
