Startups participating in the KNX Startup Incubator Program can benefit from different training and onboarding opportunities to help them understand the KNX ecosystem and start developing KNX-based solutions.
The training offer covers three main areas:
1. KNX Manufacturer Tool training
Startups intending to develop their own KNX products can access the dedicated training on the KNX Manufacturer Tool.
The Manufacturer Tool is the software used by KNX manufacturers to create and maintain the Application Program of a KNX product. The training provides an introduction to the development workflow and helps startups understand the main concepts and processes involved in preparing a KNX product for the KNX ecosystem.
Access to the Manufacturer Tool is part of the one-year development tooling package available to eligible startups. KNX membership is required to receive this package.
2. Ad-hoc sessions about the KNX ecosystem
Depending on the startup's technology, use case and development needs, KNX Association may organise ad-hoc technical and ecosystem sessions.
These sessions are intended to provide startups with a better understanding of the technologies, tools and opportunities available within KNX.
Topics may include, among others:
- The KNX ecosystem and its different development paths
- KNX product development and certification
- KNX specifications and development tools
- KNX IoT ecosystem extension
- Integration possibilities for applications and services
- Other technical topics relevant to the startup's solution
The exact content of these sessions is adapted to the needs and maturity of each startup.
3. Start@KNX
Startups can also benefit from Start@KNX, the introductory training programme designed to provide a first overview of KNX technology and the KNX ecosystem.
Unlike the dedicated training activities of the KNX Startup Incubator, Start@KNX is available to anyone who wants to learn more about KNX.
It can therefore be a useful starting point for startup team members who are new to KNX before moving towards more specialised product-development or technical training.
A progressive learning path
Depending on the startup's previous experience with KNX, a typical learning path can therefore be:
Start@KNX → KNX ecosystem sessions → Manufacturer Tool training → Product development and certification
The exact training path can be adapted according to the startup's solution, technical background and development objectives.
