When are additional tests required?
If a KNX stack is used with a digital transceiver and the manufacturer also wants to use the same stack with an analog transceiver, such as an ASIC, ST, or discrete solution, additional tests are required.
What must the manufacturer do?
The manufacturer must perform the tests specified in KNX Standard Volume 8/2/2 and document the results in an internal test report. The test procedure and test devices are clearly described in Volume 8/2/2, and tests cannot be performed with the EITT.
The report can then be used as the basis for an (online) KNX audit. During the audit, the manufacturer repeats the tests and shares the scope images to demonstrate that the device meets the requirements.
Required tests
- Physical Layer coding, decoding, and collision tests.
- Complete Link Layer tests, covering both the physical and data parts of the Link Layer.
