To learn more about the Two-Factor Authentication read here. In short, the two-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your MyKNX account. It removes the risks associated with compromised passwords immediately.
How to enable it
- Go to the 'Security Settings' of your account and click the 'Set Up 2FA' button.
- In the next step you are requested to enter the code that is shown on the screen to your Authenticator App (you can either scan the QR code or type in the code manually). You may use any Authenticator App you like. Here are some examples:
- Once you save the code in your Authenticator App click 'Continue'.
- In the next step, you shall provide a code generated by your Authenticator App specifically for your MyKNX account and click 'Activate'.
- Upon successful activation, you will receive the message 'Authenticator Activated'.
- Right after the activation, you will be given 10 recovery codes. Store them safely. You will need them in case you lose access to your authentication device. From now on, every time you want to sign in into your MyKNX account, you must provide a code from your Authenticator App.
How to disable it
- Go to the 'Security Settings' of your account and click the 'Disable 2FA' button.
- In the next step, you shall provide a code generated by your Authenticator App specifically for your MyKNX account and click 'Disable'.
- After that step and provided that your code was correct, the Two-Factor Authentication is disabled for your MyKNX account.
Use of the Recovery Codes
In the case where the access to your authentication device (e.g. your mobile phone) is not possible, then you can still disable the Two-Factor Authentication by using one of the recovery codes that have been provided to you when you activated it. To proceed, click the option 'Use a recovery code' and enter it in the screen that appears. Then, click the 'Disable' button.
After that step and provided that your code was correct, the Two-Factor Authentication is disabled for your MyKNX account.
