The 'Options' window only opens if the recording of telegrams has been stopped. The following options are available for both Monitors:
- General
- Recording
- Coloring
- Conditions
General
Option | Description |
Timestamp format | Format of the Time column in the monitor. Possible values are:
|
Warn if closing telegram monitor containing unsaved telegrams | When deactivating this checkbox, the program will close the monitor window without warning the user whether recorded telegrams need to be saved first. |
Capture filter condition | The 'point' at which the monitor begins recording telegrams depends on this (pre- or user-defined) condition. Telegrams that do not meet this condition will be ignored. |
Use filter condition when loading from file | If selected, the filter conditions are also applied when telegrams are loaded from a file (to reduce the amount of content displayed). |
Capture trigger condition | The 'point' at which the monitor begins displaying telegrams depends on this (pre- or user-defined) condition. Telegrams that do not meet the condition will be ignored. To process a telegram here, it must have first met the Capture filter condition! It is possible to specify the number of telegrams that will be captured before the trigger condition is met, as well as limit the number of packets captured after the trigger condition is met. |
Use ETS APP for decoding | If one or more decoder ETS App(s) from KNX manufacturers are installed, the respective currently active decoder is selected here. A multiple selection or cascading (simultaneous execution, e.g. sequentially) of decoders is not possible. |
Recording
Recorded telegrams can be saved to a file on the computer or on a network drive/Cloud for later analysis.
Option | Description |
Enable live logging of monitored frames to a file | This option determines whether the telegrams recorded by the monitoring function are saved directly. All other options on this page are disabled as long as this option is not enabled. |
Filename for the live logfile | Selection of the path and filename. The format of the log file is XML, the memory content of the file is always in the ETS6 format. |
Start a new live logfile | This option determines when a new log file should be created, e.g. i.e. never, based on the number of the telegrams, every hour, every day, every week, every month or every year. When selecting the “Based on number of telegrams” option, it is possible to enter a value in the field underneath, i.e. 'Maximum number of telegrams per logfile'. The name of the log files can be made unique by appending either:
By setting the option “Automatically delete old logfiles” you can determine whether old logfiles should be deleted or not. If the option 'Based on number of files' is selected, the field 'Maximum number of logfiles' is enabled.
|
Limit disk space used by logfiles | Use this option to specify the maximum disk space used for logfiles. |
Disk space limit for logfiles | Enter the disk space limit for the logfiles. |
Coloring
In this window it is possible to modify the text and background color of the various telegrams, e.g. for telegram repetitions or faulty telegrams.
Option | Description |
Standard telegram coloring |
Defines text/background color for telegrams which do not meet any condition. |
Conditional telegram coloring |
Defines text/background color for telegrams which meet a condition.
|
Conditions
It is possible to add more conditions to the default set of recording conditions by pressing the button '+' in the 'Conditions' window. When, e.g., selecting 'Source Address' it is possible to filter telegrams on a specific individual address.
Thanks to this filter option, it is possible to determine the number of telegrams that are displayed (it has no influence on the recording of telegrams). This is certainly a very useful function in large installations with higher bus traffic. ETS displays all telegrams by default.
Option | Description |
Conditions | Lists all conditions (ETS default and user-defined conditions).
|
Expression |
Defines the condition. A maximum of five independent expression parts can be set. All of them may be combined with the 'AND' or 'OR' operator.
