ETS uses the Datapoint Type (DPT) assigned to the Group Address for displaying or sending values in the Group Monitor. If no DPT is assigned, it derives the DPT from linked Group Objects. Changing a Group Object's DPT does not update the Group Address's DPT, so verify the Group Address DPT if values display incorrectly.
When displaying or sending values in the Group Monitor, ETS primarily uses the Datapoint Type (DPT) assigned to the Group Address.
If no DPT is assigned to the Group Address, ETS derives the DPT from the linked Group Objects.
Note that changing the DPT of a Group Object does not automatically update the DPT assigned to the Group Address. If the displayed value in the Group Monitor does not match the expected format, verify the DPT configured on the Group Address.
| Situation | DPT used by Group Monitor |
|---|---|
| Group Address has a DPT assigned | Group Address DPT wins |
| Group Address has no DPT assigned | ETS looks at the linked Group Objects and derives the DPT from them |
