Create a hardware and product

1. Right-click the project name and select Add/New Item/Hardware.
2. Enter the unique identification, i.e.:
   • Serial Number and Version of the hardware: This is the unique key of the hardware. You should avoid changing it later.
   • Hardware name: This name is not visible to the ETS end customer.
3. Define the product details. This is the commercial realization of the hardware. Please choose an appropriate product name and order number, as this information will be printed on the KNX Certificate once the product is certified.
4. Press the OK button to create the hardware.

Note:

• The same hardware serial number and version may not be used for different hardware products. The use of the same hardware serial number and version is only allowed when:
  • a new application program needs to be registered for the same hardware and product.
  • a new product flavor (i.e., product group) needs to be registered for that same registered hardware.
• Such a product flavor may be combined in a product group only if the modifications do not exceed the color and/or markings of the master product. E.g., a 2-fold and a 4-fold sensor may never share the same hardware serial number and version. For all other modifications, the manufacturer needs to create a new hardware serial number and version in the Manufacturer Tool and submit the products with the 'New' or ‘Reassessment’ case for registration.
• Products belonging to a product group may be submitted for integration into the ETS database under one or more catalog entries with order numbers containing a wildcard (representing one or more digits). They may all be attributed to the same ETS product. The same registration number is allocated to the combination of the entire product group and one attributed application program.
