Registration type "Product group"
| Fields | Explanation |
|
Original product |
Enter the product name of the original product. |
|
Other color/marking |
Select exactly what has changed. |
Products with modifications solely related to color and markings may be combined in a product group. If desired by the KNX manufacturer, the order numbers may be combined to one number containing wild cards (e.g. ‘*’ or ‘?’). KNX Association will attribute one KNX registration number to the entire product group in combination with one application program.
Products with modifications exceeding the above are considered as different products and will receive in combination with an application program different KNX registration numbers. These products may not be combined to product groups, neither may they be grouped under one order number with wildcard.
Example product group
| Name of product | order number |
| Push button blue | 623 12 |
| Push button red | 623 13 |
| Push button green | 623 14 |
becomes
| Generalized: "Push button single" | 623 1x |
Notes:
- The hardware key of the product may not be changed;
- A product that has a wildcard as order number (i.e., the master device) is not a carte blanche for the manufacturer to use the respective *.knxprod file for other product flavors of that master device (e.g., a product containing fewer channels, less functionality, less sensor coverage etc. that can be parameterized in ETS) without registration. In the latter cases, these product flavors or child products need to be submitted for registration, thereby using the registration type ‘Reassessment’. If the master device is certified, all subsequent ‘child’ products can in this case can be certified too.
