Before the organization of a KNX NextGen course
Create a course in MyKNX
If the educational institute has planned a KNX NextGen course, it shall first create the course in its MyKNX account, as explained in Creating a KNX NextGen course in MyKNX.
Students who are interested in taking the course shall register for it through their personal MyKNX account.
Once all internal administrative arrangements have been completed, the educational institute shall confirm the student's registration.

Timetable
A timetable for the KNX NextGen course shall be drawn up to document the number of hours allocated to the different course topics.
The timetable shall include:
- course name;
- course date;
- training documentation version used during the course;
- number of hours allocated to each chapter;
- exam duration;
- course location;
- name or number of the classroom; and
- name of the KNX Teacher(s).
The educational institute determines the timeframe for the course. The individual modules may be spread over several weeks or months.
The timetable shall also be established when creating the KNX NextGen course in MyKNX.

During the organization of a KNX NextGen course
Inform students about safety requirements
Before practical training starts, students shall be informed of the applicable safety requirements.
Safety instructions may be provided orally or in writing and shall address the potential hazards associated with the practical training equipment and activities.
An example of safety instructions is available through MyKNX.
Record student attendance
The NextGen educational institute shall document student attendance throughout the course.
Attendance may be recorded in one of the following ways:
- the KNX Teacher records each student's attendance for every training day; or
- each student signs an attendance list at the beginning of every training day.
After the organization of a KNX NextGen course
Exams
At the end of the course, the student shall take the theoretical and practical exams.

KNX NextGen course certificate
After successfully completing the theoretical and practical exams, the student receives an official KNX Apprentice certificate in PDF format in their MyKNX account.
The educational institute may also issue a paper certificate. If a paper certificate is issued, the official certificate template available on the KNX Cloud server shall be used.
The paper certificate shall contain:
- name, date and place of birth of the student;
- title and content of the course;
- duration and dates of the course;
- date of issue;
- name and logo of the educational institute;
- place of examination; and
- signature of the head of the educational institute and the KNX Teacher.
