Overview:
Unregistered devices are intended solely for manufacturers to test their products before they reach the market and should only be used for testing purposes, not in real projects. These devices may not comply with the KNX standard and therefore should not be used in real projects. It is advisable to check the online catalog or the manufacturer's website to see if a “registered” or “certified” version of the product data is available. If such a version exists, it should be used, and any existing product data in the project should be updated accordingly. Refer to the article here for instructions on how to change/update the Application Program.
Device Developer and Device Tester should use Device Developer or Device Tester licenses to test unregistered devices in ETS. If you are a tester, you should request a “Tester License” from the manufacturer.

What does this mean?
Importing project file with unregistered devices without Device Developer/Device Tester License:
- Unregistered devices are shown with a yellow exclamation mark symbol in tree/details views.
- Unregistered devices show a warning indication in the sidebar.
- Unable to paste the unregistered device within the project/different project.
- Unable to create a device template.
Importing project file with unregistered devices along with Device Developer/Device Tester License:
- Unregistered devices are shown with a yellow exclamation mark symbol in tree/details views.
- Unregistered devices show a warning indication in the sidebar.
- Able to paste the copied unregistered device within the project/different project.
- Unable to create a device template.
Importing product file with unregistered devices without Device Developer/Device Tester License:
- ETS does not show unregistered device data in the Catalog panel.
Importing product file with unregistered devices along with Device Developer/Device Tester License:
- ETS shows unregistered device data in the Catalog panel.
- If an unregistered device is selected in the Catalog panel, a warning indication shows in the sidebar properties.
- All unregistered products are shown with a yellow exclamation mark symbol.
- Able to add unregistered catalog products to projects (Topology/Building Panel).
