Problem
When adding secure device certificates, the camera is not activated.
Resolution
If the camera is not activated when adding secure device certificates, then please check the following possible solutions:
- No other software is interfering with the camera
- Windows updates
- Camera drivers not the latest
- Verify the camera in the device manager
No other software is interfering with the camera
Please check that no other software is interfering (or even using) it. Some known software packages that are known to use the camera are Zoom, GoToMeeting, Microsoft Teams, Skype, ChromaCam, etc. If at least one of them uses it, then close ETS, ensure that the other software does not use the camera and start ETS again.
Windows updates
Just like the setup software of ETS, the use of any software tool may conflict with pending Windows updates (which is actually a software). To check whether there currently are any Windows updates being installed, see here.
Camera drivers not the latest
Ensure that you have the latest camera drivers installed on your computer. If not, then please install them and try again.
Verify the camera in the device manager
Open the device manager on the computer and verify that the correct camera is selected as default camera (especially when there are multiple cameras available).
