License Models & Prices

ETS licenses are structured according to official guidelines based on project size, not on whether the software is used for private or professional purposes. This means anyone — from private users to full-time professionals — can order an ETS license, with no requirements needed.

Below is an overview of our three license models.
 

ETS6 Professional license (unlimited)

• Price: €1,000 (VAT excluded)
• Available License types: Cloud-based or dongle-based
• Dongle: Optional, €80
• Scope: Unlimited projects and devices

Description: This license is designed for professional users, such as installers and system integrators managing large KNX installations. It offers maximum flexibility, supporting an unlimited number of projects and participants — making it ideal for complex systems.

ETS6 Home license (limited)

• Price: €350 (VAT excluded)
• Available License type: Cloud-based only 
• Scope: Up to 64 devices, limited to a single project

Description: This license covers a single project with up to 64 participants, making it well-suited for smart home owners managing their own KNX installation.

ETS6 Lite license (limited)

• Price: €200 (VAT excluded)
• Available License type: Cloud-based only
• Scope: Up to 20 devices per project, unlimited number of projects

Description: This license allows unlimited projects with up to 20 participants each, making it ideal for smaller projects and training purposes.

Other Software licenses

In addition to ETS licenses, KNX Association also offers the following tools to support manufacturers and users within the KNX ecosystem:

The Manufacturer Tool (only for manufacturers)

• Full Edition: €2050 (VAT and dongle shipping costs excluded)
• Translator Edition: €150 (VAT excluded)

Description: This license allows manufacturers to develop, configure, and maintain KNX-compatible devices, ensuring seamless integration with ETS, device certification, and optimal automation functionality.
