Catalogs panel

 This window will assist you when searching all of the KNX product entries and when selecting/inserting KNX devices into your ETS project.

It consists of the following areas:

1. Tree view
2. List view

4. Upper toolbar
5. Lower toolbar

1. Tree view

 Favorites

The Favorites section offers three sub functions.

 Device Templates

Allows the use of already preconfigured devices in a project. For details, see here.

The lock icon appears if it is not available.

 Previously used

Easy to use list containing KNX product entries that you have been previously used in a project. These can be reused in new projects or in the project which is currently open. This speeds up repetitive project design steps.

• The entries are user specific.
• The entries all have the default parameter configuration as provided by the manufacturer.
• The maximum number of entries that can be shown are 30. If more are added, then the oldest are removed.

 Previously imported

This list contains product entries that have been added in the catalog via the import wizard. All added products during one import process have the same timestamp. The list shows devices with up to ten different timestamps. When the number exceeds this maximum, the oldest entries are removed from the list. Re-importing products updates their timestamps.

 Manufacturers

This tree view entry helps you access all devices (more precisely, catalog entries and the associated manufacturer-specific categories) stored in the product store.

Catalog View in the Dashboard

The global Catalogs view (Dashboard), shows all devices or catalog entries...

• ... which were imported directly as KNX product entries and are consequently located in the local product store. In this case it does not matter whether the import was performed via the dashboard window Catalogs or via the project panel Catalogs.
• ...which are visible via the online KNX product catalog.

Catalog View in the Project Window

In the local Catalogs view (referenced to the project), the same thing applies as stated above for the dashboard.

In addition to this, all those imported via a project import with imported catalog entries are also shown here (and only here). (There is an option to make this possible during the project export.) In the project itself, the definitive assignment of these catalog entries (which were brought along) from the project can be seen much more clearly and they are better delineated.

• If a catalog entry is grayed out, it cannot be imported to this ETS version (e.g. in ETS5, but the product requires at least an ETS6). This is shown as well when the mouse is moved over the catalog entry.
• If the list gets too long, use the Search, Find & Filter function.

2. List view

The KNX product entries available in or below this area are displayed in dependence on the selection made in the tree. The following columns are not self explanatory.

Name	Description
External Software	Devices which require external software to be installed in addition to the KNX product entry, so that you are able to configure them in a project. Not to be confused with plug-ins or external software which also access these devices outside of ETS. In the online catalog, the status of those devices is not known and the display is not meaningful ('?').
Re-import Required	For more details see here.
Plug-in	Indicates whether this device requires a plug-in and if yes, various additional status indications are shown here. Plug-in not required: Display "-" Plug-in required: Status "Requires Plug- In": Notice in catalog, that this device requires a plug- in if it would be used. Status "Installed": The required plug-in is installed. (Information about the conditions installation is performed can be found here) Status "Not installed": The required plug-in is not installed. In most cases it indicates that the plug-in installation was skipped when downloading or importing product entries. (Solution is to delete the local file and reload) Status "Newer version available": There is an older version installed on the computer locally than the one available in the imported KNX product database entries.
Bus Current	Indication (if provided by the manufacturer) about the bus current that the device draws from the bus line.
Icons	For more details see here.
Icon	The KNX product entry is available in the online catalog (if the symbol is not there, then it is in the product store).
Fingerprint	For more details see here.
Security	This device supports KNX Secure.

Context menu

Via the context menu (right mouse click), the following functions are available.

1. Add to Device Templates: For details see here.
2. Update from Online Catalog: For details see here. 
3. Delete: Deletes the product from the local product store.

4. Upper toolbar

Icon	Name	Description
	Import	Runs the KNX product Import Wizard. It is possible to import individual or multiple products simultaneously by selecting them in the selection dialog - or all products (extra function). It is possible to import several files with KNX product database entries simultaneously. In this case, the selection dialog with the functions as described before appears for each selected file. The function 'Import all' in this case refers only to all product entries in this file.
	Export	Exports the selected items in ETS format (*.knxprod). The items are the same as those described above.
	Hide online catalog	Hides or shows the KNX product entries from the online KNX product catalog. This makes possible to display only those KNX product entries which are currently stored locally in the product store.  Products from the online catalog are visible  Products from the online catalog are hidden
	Download	Downloads the KNX product entries locally in the product store.
	Catalog entry, functional subdivision	The entire path (branch levels, functional subdivision) of the catalog entry is shown here.
	Search field	Search field
	Product help	Some KNX product entries contain an extra product-specific help file (CHM). In this case, when such a product is selected, an extra help button will appear. However, this product help is limited to ETS3-ETS5 product database entries.

5. Lower toolbar

The entire functionality here serves the purpose of adding devices to a project. There are three different possibilities for adding a device.

1.The Add button

Allows several settings for the target location to be made. The individual options are (from left to right):

1. How many devices will be inserted at one time
2. Into which project
3. Into which window
4. Into which element (the type is dependent on the option c) selection)

You can also quickly and easily select options b) and c) by clicking on the target element, e.g. a Room in the Building Structure window or a Line in the Topology window. ETS will make the above settings accordingly. The Add button is enabled only if a device is selected.

2.A Double-click

Double click on a device (uses the settings as described in 1. above).

3.Using Drag & Drop

Drag the device from the Catalog panel into another panel, for example, the Buildings or the Topology windows.
