IP (Visible only on IP devices)
Tab for setting IP communication parameters for IP devices, IP interfaces and IP couplers. The prerequisite for this is that a KNX IP device also supports this type of direct* input.
- Addressing Method (automatic / DHCP or static IP address assignment)
- MAC address (read only, fixed device ID, is read from IP devices/ IP couplers and displayed here when the PA/IA for these is written)
- Routing Multicast Address (read only; defined in the IP line)
- Commissioning Password (key for device commissioning)
- Authentication Code
*For historical reasons, IP configuration data is also entered in the Device Parameters dialog and every manufacturer has defined their own look and feel for this. The data, however, is required for all devices in identical form, and therefore, it makes sense to standardize how this information is entered. Furthermore, there is the benefit of avoiding faulty configurations (e.g. the Routing Multicast Address is now obtained from the line and no longer has to be entered one device at a time). KNX manufacturers must indicate the new type of management or data input in IP devices/ IP couplers. This is also possible for existing IP devices/ IP couplers using a new or updated KNX product database entry.
