Download Sequence
There are two strategies which determine bus operations (applies for all download variants) or the order in which devices are handled for download. The download sequence is also displayed under the 'Pending Operations' on the sidebar.
Explicit (Devices are selected directly)
- Individually selected devices are handled for the download in the order in which they were selected.
Implicit (Devices are selected indirectly via an element containing a device)
- Devices as part of a topology line or a building part are handled according device address in ascending order.
- If two or more topology lines or building parts are selected, they will be stacked into the download queue in the order in which they were selected.
Devices selected via CTRL+A will also be handled as an implicit selection.
Local Device Download
Local download refers to the situation when connecting to KNX via an interface that is mounted onto to a flush mounted bus coupling unit ('local BCU'), into which you want to download its configuration. ETS will automatically detect this special download operation (by comparing the Individual Address destination with the Individual Address of the communication interface used, which are identical) and will ask you to confirm the operation.
Bear in mind that local download is not possible for all device classes. In this case, ETS will warn you with an appropriate message.
Remember that it is important to properly set the Individual Address of the local interface.
- Download functions are accessible only if one device or parts containing one or more devices are selected. This can be done very conveniently and flexibly; for example:
- Select a Floor in the Buildings panel; all devices in that floor will be downloaded.
- Select a Middle Group in the Group Addresses panel; all devices linked to one of the Group Addresses will be downloaded.
- When there are pending online operations it's prohibited to close or export a project (the monitors are not affected by this). This ensures that projected device functions are not modified or corrupted during a download by a possible project close or export. An (intentional) update must be performed on purpose by the user in this case.
