KNX certified training centres have several obligations before, during, and after organizing a KNX certified course.
These obligations ensure that courses are properly registered, delivered, and documented in accordance with KNX requirements.
Before the course
Create the course in MyKNX
Before organizing a KNX certified course, the training centre shall create the course in MyKNX.
For more information, see Creating a KNX course in MyKNX.
Students shall register for the course using their personal MyKNX account. Once the necessary administrative arrangements have been completed, the training centre shall confirm the student's registration.
For more information, see Managing student course registrations in MyKNX.
Prepare the timetable
A timetable shall be prepared for each KNX certified course.
The timetable shall document how the required course duration is distributed among the different course topics and shall include:
- course name;
- course date(s);
- version of the KNX training documentation used;
- duration allocated to each course topic;
- breaks and lunch periods;
- duration of the applicable exam(s);
- course location;
- classroom name or number, where applicable; and
- name of the KNX tutor(s).
The timetable shall also be entered when creating the course in MyKNX.
The training centre may determine how the course is scheduled. Where permitted by the applicable course requirements, the course may be organized on consecutive days or spread over several weeks or months.
An example timetable is available through MyKNX.
During the course
Inform students about safety requirements
Before practical training starts, students shall be informed of the applicable safety requirements.
Safety instructions may be provided orally or in writing and shall address the potential hazards associated with the practical training equipment and activities.
An example of safety instructions is available through MyKNX.
Record student attendance
The training centre shall document student attendance throughout the course.
Attendance may be recorded in one of the following ways:
- the KNX tutor records each student's attendance for every training day; or
- each student signs an attendance list at the beginning of every training day.
The attendance records shall allow the training centre to verify whether each student meets the minimum attendance requirement applicable to the respective course type.
After the course
Complete the applicable exam process
Where the course includes an exam, the applicable theoretical and/or practical exam shall be completed in accordance with the requirements for the respective KNX course type.
For more information, see Exam regulations for the different courses and the applicable articles on organizing KNX exams.
KNX course certificate
After successfully completing the applicable course requirements and exam(s), the student receives the official KNX course certificate in PDF format through MyKNX.
A training centre may additionally issue a paper certificate, but this is optional. If a paper certificate is issued, the official KNX certificate template shall be used. The paper certificate shall contain the required information specified in the applicable KNX certificate template.
Archive the required course records
The training centre shall retain the required records relating to the organization of KNX certified courses.
For practical exams, the results of the practical exam and the corresponding building documentation may be archived electronically or on paper. The documentation (print-out of Building View documentation) of the last two practical exams conducted shall be retained (in paper or PDF).
