Although the KNX USB licensing dongle has been plugged into the computer, it is not recognized.
- Try another USB port. Plug the dongle into a different USB port on the same computer. If that doesn’t work, try it on another computer.
- Check for software that blocks USB devices. Turn off antivirus, firewall or endpoint security software for a short time to see if it is blocking the dongle. If you use Citrix Workspace, see [Citrix Workspace app blocks the licensing dongle].
-
Install pending Windows and computer updates (new). Pending updates can stop USB devices from being recognized, even when the drivers look fine.
- Open Settings → Windows Update (Windows 11) or Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update (Windows 10) and select Check for updates.
- Install everything listed, including optional updates for drivers and firmware.
- Also install updates from your computer’s manufacturer (for example Dell Command Update, Lenovo Vantage or HP Support Assistant). These often include USB controller, chipset and BIOS/firmware updates.
- Restart the computer, even if it doesn’t ask you to. Many updates only finish installing after a restart.
- On a company-managed computer, your IT department may control updates or USB access. Ask them to check for pending updates or policies that block USB storage or USB devices.
- Plug in the dongle again and start ETS.
-
Remove old dongle drivers. If the dongle still isn’t recognized:
- Download the attached USBDeview tool and run it as administrator.
- Unplug the dongle, then sort the list by VendorID.
- Find the entries with VendorID 2a07 and ProductID 0102, and uninstall them.
- Plug the dongle back in so the driver installs again automatically.
-
Contact KNX Support. If it still doesn’t work, submit a support request by following this procedure and tell us:
- Is the dongle connected to USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 port?
- Is the USB port used directly or indirectly via a USB hub?
