The KNX HVAC Specialist course provides KNX professionals with the knowledge required to understand and work with heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) systems in KNX installations.
KNX professionals often configure KNX devices that influence HVAC components installed and commissioned by other specialists. A basic understanding of HVAC terminology, systems, and control principles is therefore essential for effective coordination with HVAC professionals.
The KNX HVAC Specialist course aims to:
- facilitate communication between KNX professionals and HVAC specialists;
- explain important HVAC terminology, components, and control principles; and
- demonstrate how KNX can be used for HVAC control and energy efficiency.
Course format
The theoretical and practical parts of the KNX HVAC Specialist course may be organized face-to-face (F2F) or online.
Course content
The following topics shall be covered during the KNX HVAC Specialist course:

All topics included in the official KNX HVAC Specialist course documentation shall be covered within the required course duration.
Course requirements
The following requirements apply:
- The total course duration, including the theoretical exam, shall be at least 12 hours.
- The student shall have successfully completed the KNX Basic course before attending the KNX HVAC Specialist course.
- The theoretical and practical parts shall be taught by a KNX certified tutor.
- At least 50% of the total course duration shall consist of practical training.
- During practical training, at least one KNX certified tutor shall be available for every 16 students.
- Where physical training equipment is used, it shall meet the applicable KNX HVAC Specialist course equipment requirements.

Exam
The KNX HVAC Specialist course includes a theoretical exam.
The theoretical exam shall be organized face-to-face.
The student shall achieve at least 50% of the marks in the theoretical exam to successfully complete the course.

Certificate
After successfully completing the course and passing the theoretical exam, the student receives the official KNX HVAC Specialist course certificate.
The certificate issued for this course type shall comply with the applicable KNX certificate template.
