KNX Association has defined a number of certified course types that can be offered by KNX certified training centres.
Each course has a defined curriculum, minimum course duration, and, where applicable, theoretical and/or practical examinations.
After successfully completing a KNX certified course, the student receives an official KNX certificate.
The following certified course types are available:
- KNX Basic course
- KNX Condensed practical Basic course
- KNX Advanced course
- KNX Condensed practical Advanced course
- KNX HVAC Specialist course
- KNX Energy Management course
- KNX Tutor course
- KNX Refresher course

Online and face-to-face training
Depending on the course type, the theoretical part of a KNX certified course may be attended:
- online; or
- face-to-face (F2F).
Where a course includes a practical part, the practical training shall be attended face-to-face.
Where examinations are required, the applicable examination requirements for the respective course type shall be followed.
The KNX Tutor course and KNX Refresher course have specific attendance requirements, which are explained in their respective course articles.
Certificates and benefits
After successfully completing a KNX certified course, the student receives an official KNX certificate.
Depending on the course type, the student may also receive:
- credits in the Knowledge category of the KNX Partner Ranking
- ETS Lite license; and
- ETS vouchers.
The applicable benefits are defined separately for each course type.
