The KNX Basic course is the first certified KNX course for anyone wishing to become a KNX Partner.
After successfully completing the course and passing both the theoretical and practical exams, the student becomes a KNX Partner.
Course format
The KNX Basic course consists of a theoretical and practical part.
The theoretical part may be organized:
- face-to-face (F2F); or
- online.
The practical part shall always be organized face-to-face using fixed or mobile KNX training rigs.
The theoretical and practical exams shall also be organized face-to-face in the presence of a KNX certified tutor.
Course content
The following topics shall be covered during the KNX Basic course:

All topics included in the official KNX Basic course documentation shall be covered within the required course duration.
Course requirements
The following requirements apply:
- The total course duration, including the theoretical and practical exams, shall be at least 30 hours.
- The student shall attend at least 75% of the total course duration.
- The theoretical and practical parts shall be taught by a KNX certified tutor.
- At least 50% of the total course duration shall consist of practical training.
- During practical training, at least one KNX certified tutor shall be available for every 16 students.
- The practical training shall be carried out using KNX training rigs that meet the applicable KNX Basic course equipment requirements.

Exams
The KNX Basic course includes:
- a theoretical exam; and
- a practical exam.
Both exams shall be organized face-to-face in the presence of a KNX certified tutor.
The student shall achieve at least 50% of the marks in both the theoretical and practical exam to successfully complete the course.

Certificate
After successfully completing the course and passing both exams, the student receives the official KNX Basic course certificate and becomes a KNX Partner.
The certificate issued for this course type shall comply with the applicable KNX certificate template.
